Understanding Our Spiritual Foundation

The Authority of Christ Above All

The Bible shows that Jesus Christ is above all other powers. Ephesians 1:21-22 (NLT) says:

“Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.”

Prayer

Jesus, we know You are in control of everything. We feel safe with You, because You protect us. Help us always remember this and trust You. We want to follow You in everything we do.

The Power of Christ’s Sacrifice

When Jesus died and came back to life, He beat the power of the devil. It says this in Hebrews 2:14 (NLT).

“Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could He die, and only by dying could He break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.”

Prayer

Dear Jesus, we come to You because we have worries and are sometimes scared. Your big act of love has saved us from bad things. Help us to be brave, knowing that You have won against all the bad things.

Victory Through the Cross

Colossians 2:14-15 (NLT) says:

“He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.”

Prayer

Jesus, we are always thankful for what You did for us. Because You beat the bad guys, we are safe with You.
