Faithful Witnesses

Life gives us times when we feel unsure and sad. Sometimes, it feels like hope is far away and being thankful is hard. During these times, we might ask, “How can I help?” or “What is my job?” Here is a nice thought: faith can help us feel safe, show us what to do, and we have people who cheer us on.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” – Hebrews 12:1-2

This part of Hebrews 12 is about a race we all run. Many people from the Bible are watching us run. They are people like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Rahab. They ran their races by trusting God and His promises.

A woman named Nina went to Nigeria to talk to people about Jesus. She did this a very long time ago. Nina went to the same church as we do now.

Because of what Nina did, many people in Nigeria now love Jesus. Today, in our partner church, there are over 700,000 people who follow Jesus. There are even more people in other churches.

Nina’s story teaches us that small actions can become very important and special.

While doing what we’re meant to do, we are part of a big story. The good news of Jesus is growing all over the world. Your special place might be near your home, a bit farther away, or even far across the world. No matter where it is, always look to Jesus to guide you.

Just as an anchor keeps a boat still in stormy water, our trust keeps us strong when things are hard. And just like a bright light helps ships find their way in the dark, Jesus helps us know what to do when life is confusing.

May God help you and make you strong to talk about Him. You are never alone in this journey. Many people who love God are cheering for you.

Dear, Jesus, for all the people who watch us and want us to do well. Please help us to always talk about you. Amen.
