Our world moves very fast and changes all the time. This can make us feel worried and lost. We want things to be steady and good. We look for hope and a reason to keep going. Every day brings new problems. Sometimes it feels like we are in a boat in a big storm.
When Jesus started teaching, he said something new and very important.
“The time has come. . . . The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” – Mark 1:15
In Jesus’ time, Rome was in charge. The leader was called Caesar. When a new Caesar became leader, people would tell everyone the “good news” about it. Jesus talked about a different kingdom, the kingdom of God. This was brave and dangerous, but people liked hearing about it.
Jesus did not come to fight Rome. He came to bring God’s kingdom. This kingdom is not like kingdoms on earth. It is full of different values, not power. Jesus’s kingdom is about love, peace, and kindness.
- Love
- Mercy
- Forgiveness
- New beginnings

Following Jesus means becoming a part of God’s forever family. This family is not about the governments and rules of our world. It goes beyond them and gives hope and peace to everyone who joins it.
The good news of Jesus is important today, just like before. In a world with lots of fighting and problems, we can tell everyone this special message: Jesus, the King, has come, bringing new life with Him. He takes care of the world. We can follow Him and be part of His strong kingdom.
Dear Jesus, please help me hear your nice words today. Thank you for letting me be part of your kingdom. Amen.
