Finding Strength in Doing Good

Have you ever felt utterly exhausted, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually? In our fast-paced world, it can be challenging not to grow weary of doing good. The constant demands of life, the seemingly endless brokenness around us, and the overwhelming needs can easily drain our energies. Maybe you’ve experienced days when you’re ready to give up, feeling that your efforts are just a drop in the ocean.

The brokenness in our world knows no end. There is always another hungry person to feed, another patient filling a hospital bed, another war producing refugees. The world’s problems appear unending, and it’s easy to feel like our contributions are insignificant. Yet, in the midst of this, we find a calling and a promise in our faith.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

These words from Galatians remind us that our efforts are never in vain. Through God’s strength, we can continue to press on, knowing that there is a divine purpose in our perseverance. We might not always see the fruits of our labor immediately, but the promise is sure: a harvest will come.

It’s important to recognize that doing good doesn’t always mean grand gestures. Sometimes, the simplest acts can have the most profound impact. A smile, an encouraging word, or a heartfelt prayer can touch lives in ways we may never fully understand. Our ministry can change over time, and that’s okay. What matters is that we keep our hearts open to serve in whatever way we can, trusting God to use our efforts for His glory.

Think of faith as a sturdy anchor in the midst of life’s stormy seas. When the waves of fatigue and discouragement crash against us, our faith holds us steady. It’s the light that guides us through the darkness, giving us hope and strength to carry on.

As we journey through this broken world, let us remember that we are not alone. God’s Spirit empowers us to continue doing good, even when we feel we have nothing left to give. And in the end, may we all rejoice to hear the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant!

Dear Jesus,

Sometimes we grow weary and discouraged. Help us, in the power of your Spirit, to press on. Thank you for giving us eternal life and for welcoming us into your kingdom. Strengthen our hearts and hands to continue your work, in big and small ways. Amen.
