The Blessedness of God’s People

There are moments in life where we all grapple with feelings of uncertainty or loss. Perhaps it’s an unsettling change at work, a relationship that seems to be slipping away, or simply the weariness of the daily grind. It’s in these moments that we find ourselves searching for something steady and constant, a beacon of hope and reassurance.

For those who are part of God’s family, such solace is found in the undeniable joy of having new life in Christ, a joy that is both profound and everlasting. The sure hope of living eternally with Him provides an unwavering anchor amidst life’s tempests.

Moses reminded the people of Israel of this incredible privilege when he said, “Blessed are you, Israel! Who can be compared to you? The Lord himself has saved you.”

“Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights.” Deuteronomy 33:29

Moses’ proclamation rings true even today: as God’s people, we are blessed beyond measure because we have been chosen by God from eternity. We are the objects of His enduring love and care in every circumstance.

The gift of salvation, the greatest of all gifts, comes freely to us, though it costs God dearly. This gift, which no amount of worldly wealth could purchase, was bought with the life of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Through this unimaginable sacrifice, God grants us the gift of eternal life.

We cannot earn or deserve this salvation. It is given to us purely by God’s merciful grace, an unearned favor that stands as the cornerstone of our happiness and hope.

The happiness of God’s people lies in this capital truth: we are saved by the Lord!

Let us take a moment to dwell on this immense blessing and express our gratitude:

We praise your name, O God, for in your gift of salvation, full and free, we are truly and completely blessed! Thank you for loving us so much and for making us your people. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
